Huascaran in danger
A report by the United Nations Environment Programme revealed that Global Earth Warming is a serious threat for many World Heritage Sites, both cultural and natural. The report, named “Atlas of Climate Change”, includes the beautiful Huascarán’s Natural Park (Parque Natural del Huascarán), in the cental Andean department of Ancash. According to the document, the melting of the glaciers threat to overflow the lake, next to a pre-Inca archeological site.
The Parque Natural del Huascarán features Peru’s highest mountain, the Huascarán (6.768 m.a.s.l.), and is probably the finest destination for Adventure Sports in Peru.
